April 2010 Message from Sandy Corner
Life is full of challenges and surprises and certainly, after one of the worst winters in recent memory, Buchan Presbytery has requested that I take on the challenge of being Interim Moderator for Aberdour, Pitsligo and Sandhaven to replace the valuable work done by Rev Allan Fawkes over the last number of years.
You may well ask, ‘What can I do for you?’ Well, I hope that I can bring experience of Church and Presbytery matters to assist your discussions at Session and Board meetings. As Property Convenor at Deer Parish Church, I fully understand the expense and need to maintain buildings. As an Elder and member of Buchan Presbytery, I realise how important it is to be able to attract Ministers to this area in |
order to continue to spread God’s Word and as a member of a church, beginning the new experience of looking for a new Minister, I have a great deal of admiration at the excellent work I have seen already taking place in all three churches. I believe that this challenge requires me to do certain things in the first instance. I need to listen and to consult. I need to understand where there is difficulty and, finally, I need to help everyone come together in a single purpose, ‘to make us ready of heart and cheerful of spirit, to give all that we aught for the good of your house, the growth of your kingdom and the glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.’
Sandy with daughters Shona and Lynn and wife Sheila.
